ePortfolios

My ePortfolio

My Mindmap

Above you will see a link to my ePortfolio this was a blast and a bunch easier only because of the mind map we completed last week. I have always been a fly by the seat kind of person but in this case I am glad we had the mind map to work from. Once I got started it flowed together so quickly because it is so easy to use.

I was a little concerend about the tools that you used to work on the page at first I was having a hard time putting in my hyperlinks werre I wanted them and I was not able to make the HTML area work corectly but in the end it all worked out fine. It is also going to be so easy to update this as well. It was certainly a fun project and I can't wait till the next one.

I am still not exactly understanding the FATP thing I see what was wrote but I do not understand how we are to show that info or is it what we wrote in our other blog the week we did the mind maps? I guess only time will tell. Well of for another week happy almost 4th of july everyone.

The wonderful world of wikis

So here we are this week faced with the task of learning how to do a wiki and an ePortfolio. I think that I really will like wikis I am sure that I will use them relatively often as there use seems almost endless when direct collaboration is needed between two or more people the more people you got the better it will work. The only draw back in my business I will still need to rely on a blog to interact with my customers as a wiki that could be edited by a customer would not really work as what I post is what I want others to read.

Week 4

As we bid farewell to week four, one can only ask what is next? We have learned so much about social networking, start pages, and social bookmarking. Now we have moved on to mind mapping and ePortfolio's. Each week we seem to get a harder but more interesting task than the week before, that I will be able to take with me after the class is done. I can see this being used to help me with my business called "Sweet Heat Pepper Company." I can only assume that each week I will learn a new task that is both fun and challenging, that I can take with me and use the rest of my life.

Mind Mapping

So mind mapping well what can I say, this appears to be a great tool for people you like to have some idea what the future is going to bring them. I could really see this being a good way to organize a paper or a project prior to starting as a way to keep yourself on track and to know what you are going to do. Unfortunately I am not one of those kind of people, I am a fly by the seat of the pants kind of person. The program was easy to use once I got it to work (does not work with IE) It was a bit plain but I have gotten the hang of it real fast.

Form- website loaded with different multimedia.
Audience - Perspective employers and future teachers.
Topic - Resume, accomplishments, Schooling,
Purpose - To make available in a convenient form my accomplishments and goals for all to see.

Here is a link to my hopefully completed mindmap please enjoy.

The pains of RSS

Internet: Useful Tips: RSS In Plain English

So as we say goodbye to week three I feel much more confidant in my work this week I am finally starting to understand the importance of social bookmarking and having the ability to see your bookmarks from any computer all you need to do is log in. Also I have figured out the whole Net vibes thing and the fact that soon after I finish customizing it I may never need to view any web page again OK maybe just a little bit but you get the point. I do how ever have to say the lack of being able to use a free Yahoo account and have it show up kind of sucks but at least that's only one thing extra that I will have to do. OK I am going watch this video a couple hundred more times until I get this whole RSS thing down pact. Until next week safe reading all.

Week 3

What can I say, this week was a bunch of signing up for new services the good: once you've done one you've done them all they all need the same information loaded into them monotonous would be a good word to describe them Linkedin was pretty easy to set up mostly self explanatory after that the others got a bit harder not in there set up but in there functionality . I got them all set up but am still in the process of learning what they do and why on earth I need each of the services. One word of advice make all the user names and passwords the same or it gets real confusing real quick. I understand the whole Social bookmarking thing makes your favorite places accessible from any computer as well as the favorite sites of your friends I can see that being handy if you frequent many sites, not so in my case but I think I can make it work. LinkedIn not sure what I will do with that after class is over. I am a bit more fond of Facebook more people I know use it and as a method of social networking it's something I see me using in the future. I can see that I am going to be plagued with problems from netvibes only because I do not understand the site yet. That about covers this week going to go back to doing homework now.

By golly I think I got it

So I think I finally understand this whole Long Tail thing and how it fits into every thing like with blogging there are a few big blogs and an infinite number of small blogs and what not. It did seem to take me a really long time to grasp what seems to be no more than a logical point and I do for sure feel a bit stupid for it. It seems to me to be a tool to show us that we can find that particular "thing" we are looking for by moving away from the common over used channels and following the path of the minority.

So basically blog can be what ever you want it to be form a simple online diary of sorts to a well thought out and expertly laid out form of communication. I really think I may actually like this in the end.

My first post ever

So here goes my first post all about how setting up my blog worked out. Well given the fact that I had and in all honesty still have no idea exactly what I am doing. All in all signing up for a blog was easy and getting it set up was alright, although I am still struggling with the whole layout thing but I assume I Will figure it out soon enough. It's weird though that I am having layout problems considering I just finished web design class and have no problems building web pages. I think I will open up to this soon it's a lot like public speaking I will just have to move past my fears and let it all out.
